The EZ700X Series COD Analyzers are single parameter titrators. The sampling line transfers the sample to the analyzer. The analyzer uses pumps, valves, and syringes to move the sample and reagents into a measuring cell on the analytical panel. When the measurement cycle is complete, the analyzer removes the sample through the drain line. The analysis results are displayed on the display of the data processing panel.

EZ700X Online Analyzer Method for Determination of COD in Wastewater

Determination of COD concentration in a wastewater sample is based on titration with solution of ammonium-iron (II) sulfate (Mohr's salt). During the oxidation phase, organic compounds are oxidized and converted to carbon dioxide, nitrates and water, while potassium dichromate is converted to chromium (III). The amount of titration solution used is used to calculate the COD concentration in the sample.

Analysis steps

The sample is diluted and mixed with dichromate solution (K2Cr2O7) and sulfuric acid solution (H2SO4). The solution is heated to 135 °C for 15 minutes to oxidize the organic matter. After oxidation, titration is carried out with a solution of ammonium-iron (II) sulfate (Mohr's salt). The amount of titrant is used to calculate the COD concentration in the sample.
