Refractometers
Refractometers measure the change in the angle of light (refractive index) when it enters a clear liquid or solid. Refractometers are commonly used to identify a material, determine its purity, or the amount of solute it contains. Refractometers also have different scales for specific purposes. For example, the Brix scale is used to measure the sugar content of jams, marmalades, maple syrup, and honey. Refractometers are available with different Brix scales and can be calibrated specifically for glucose, maltose, fructose and other sugars. Instruments are available for a variety of applications.
