Description

The EZ4000 Series analyzers are single parameter titrators that provide superior accuracy and reliability. Depending on the parameter of interest and the measuring range, the EZ4000 series can use potentiometry, i.e. acid-base, redox or precipitation titration, where the end point is determined by a change in a specific variable, or photocolorimetry, where the color change is used to determine the end point of the titration. A high-precision addition dispenser, robust peristaltic sampling and drainage pumps, and carefully designed fluid paths provide the highest performance for industrial and environmental analyzes.

Intelligent automatic checks, prime, and clean functions are built into the controller software and contribute to analytical performance, maximum uptime and minimal operator intervention. The sampling lines and analysis vessel are cleaned with demineralized water to eliminate cross-contamination between samples. The electronic and wet chemical parts of the analyzer are strictly separated. The transparent door allows an instant visual inspection of the compartment containing the reagents.

Description of methods for determining total and calcium hardness:

  • EZ4041 and EZ4043: The determination of the total water hardness is based on the reaction of free calcium and magnesium with calmagite in an alkaline solution to form a purple-red color. The calcium / magnesium complex is released by titration with EDTA, producing a blue color. The color change from red to blue is a measure of the amount of calcium and magnesium present in the sample. Color change is measured at 610 nm.
    Analysis steps:
    The assay vessel is cleaned and filled with a fresh sample. After sampling, an acidic solution, a buffer solution and a dye solution are added. Then a colorimetric titration with EDTA is performed at 610 nm. After determining the end point, the concentration of calcium and magnesium in the sample is determined.
  • EZ4044: Determination of the total calcium concentration in water is based on the reaction of free calcium with hydroxynaphthol blue in an alkaline solution to form a purple-red color. The calcium indicator complex is released by titration with EDTA, producing a blue color. The color change from red to blue is a measure of the amount of calcium and magnesium present in the sample. Color change is measured at 620 nm.
    Analysis steps:
    The assay vessel is cleaned and filled with a fresh sample. After sampling, the acid solution, buffer solution and dye solution are added. Colorimetric titration with EDTA is carried out at 620 nm. After determining the end point, the calcium concentration in the sample is determined.
