Description

Nitrate - the reagent contains a small amount of metallic cadmium which does not dissolve. Dispose of reacted solutions in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. Use a standard solution as a sample to check the accuracy of the test. To write the results in mg/L NO3, multiply the test result by 4.4.

Nitrite is an undissolved nitrite reagent that does not affect the accuracy of the test. Strong oxidants and reducing agents can interfere with the dough. Copper and iron ions cause poor results. Lons of iron, mercury, silver, bismuth, antimony, lead, auric acid, chloroplatinate and metavanadate cause the formation of a precipitate. To write the results in mg/L NO2, multiply the test result by 3.33.

Nitrite is also used as a corrosion inhibitor in industrial process waters and as a food preservative in the food industry. Nitrites react with oxygen to form nitrates and are not usually found in surface waters.

Step-by-step instructions for determining the level of nitrates and nitrites with a test kit Hach NI-12:

1. Fill two tubes with samples up to 5 ml;
2. Place one tube on the left in the color comparator box;
3. Add NitraVer 5 Nitrate or NitriVer 3 Nitrite Powder Reagent to the second tube;
4. Close the tube and shake for 1 minute.
5. If you determine for nitrates - an amber color will appear, if for nitrites - a pink color will appear;
6. Place the vial in the color comparator box;
7. Keep the color comparator box exposed to light (use a natural or artificial light source). Rotate the color disc until the colors match;
8. Compare the results on the scale.
