Applications: For testing general sulphides, H2S, HS– and some metal sulphides in groundwater, wastewater, brines and seawater.
Method description: Hydrogen sulfide and acid-soluble metal sulfides react with N, N dimethylphenylenediamine sulfate to form methylene blue. The intensity of the blue color is proportional to the concentration of the sulfide. High sulfide levels in oilfield waters can be determined after proper dilution. The measurement wavelength is 665 nm for spectrophotometers or 610 nm for colorimeters.
