Description of the method [8374]: Calcium and magnesium react equivalently with the indicator chlorophosphonazo III to form a complex with a color that absorbs light very strongly at a wavelength of 669 nm. One drop of CDTA reagent destroys this complex. The decrease in color is proportional to the amount of calcium and magnesium in the sample (as CaCO3). Measurement wavelength 669 nm.
