TSS Portable is a portable measuring instrument for the analytical determination of turbidity and solids in aqueous media (waste water, drinking water, river water).
Ranges of measurement of turbidity and suspended solids: 0.001 - 9999 FNU and 0.001 - 400 g/L, respectively.
The scope of delivery includes a complete system, including a meter, an immersion sensor (10 m cable), batteries + charger with four adapters, user manual and a carrying case.

Description
The TSS Portable is ideal for use in the field due to its compact design. A handheld instrument for measuring turbidity, suspended solids and sludge level using a unique measuring method with infrared diode system, provides a wide range of measurement of both turbidity and suspended solids.
The built-in memory for measured values and sample information stores up to four different calibration curves for suspended solids and one for turbidity. There is no need for constant recalibration for different sites of analysis or types of sludge.
The sludge (sludge) level can be measured by setting the units in mg/L, g /L or %. Calibrate the instrument and then slowly lower the sensor into the clarifier. The suspended solids concentration will increase significantly as it reaches the sludge blanket layer. Once the sensor reaches sludge, check the mark on its cable to determine the depth of the sludge layer from the surface of the water.
The instrument software automatically compensates for air bubbles to prevent them from interfering with the measurement. The turbidity is pre-calibrated using a calibration curve stored in the instrument. For suspended solids, each of the calibration curves can be adjusted to suit laboratory results, since each calibration curve can use up to three points per curve plus zero value.
The sensor is made of polished stainless steel with a scratch-resistant sapphire window. Polished stainless steel prevents particles from sticking to the probe surface. The memory stores up to 290 measurement values, including time, date, type of measurement, location and homogeneity of the medium. Three operating modes are available: single, interval or continuous.
The sensor contains sensitive optical and electronic components. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that it is not subjected to strong mechanical impacts. There are no components inside the sensor and meter that can be serviced by the user.
Measuring principle
The measuring principle is based on a combined infrared scattered light absorption process, which determines the lowest turbidity value according to DIN EN 27027 as accurately and continuously as a high sludge content. In this case, the light scattered to the side by the turbidity particles is measured at an angle of 90°. In the case of solid material, the measurement takes place at an angle of 90° to 120°.
