Description

Bromine

Measurement range from 0.05 to 4.50 mg/L Br2.

For the determination of residual amounts of bromine (including hypobromite, hydrobromic acid and bromamines) used as disinfectants in process water, purified water, estuary water and seawater.

Method description

Residual bromine reacts with DPD (N, N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine) to form a pink color that is proportional to the total bromine concentration. The measurement wavelength is 530 nm for spectrophotometers or 520 nm for colorimeters.

Iodine

Measurement range: 0.07 - 7.00 mg/L I2

For service water, treated water, estuary and sea water.

Method description

Iodine reacts with DPD (N, N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine) to form a pink color, the intensity of which is proportional to the total iodine concentration. The measurement wavelength is 530 nm.

Chlorine

Ranges: Low range: up to - 2.00 mg/l; Medium range: 0.05 - 4.00 mg/l; High range: 0.1 - 10.0 mg/l.

Method description

Chlorine can be present in water as free chlorine and combined chlorine. Both forms can exist in the same water and together are defined as total chlorine. Free chlorine is present as hypochlorous acid and / or hypochlorite ion. Combined chlorine exists in the form of monochloramine, dichloramine, nitrogen trichloride and other chlorine derivatives. The combined chlorine oxidizes the iodide in the reagent to iodine. Iodine and free chlorine react with DPD (N, N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine) to form a pink color that is proportional to the concentration of total chlorine.

To determine the concentration of combined chlorine, run the free chlorine test and the total chlorine test. Subtract the free chlorine test results from the total chlorine test to obtain the concentration of combined chlorine. The measurement wavelength is 530 nm for spectrophotometers or 520 nm for colorimeters.
