Description
The optical point must be replaced about once a year. It is recommended to calibrate the sensor every 6 months if used in the beverage industry using CIP. The procedure is very simple and takes no more than a couple of minutes. Depending on the oxygen measuring range, the sensor life may be shortened and the frequency of maintenance and calibration may increase. If bleaching compounds and strong oxidants (such as ClO2) are present in the sample, sensor life may also be shortened.
Removing the optical point (sensitive element)
- Slide the maintenance tool (straight edges on top) as far as possible over the old optical point. Continue to push and twist the tool until the straight edges of the tool fit into the straight grooves on the sensor.
- When the instrument is in the desired position, turn it counterclockwise to unscrew the old optical point.
- After unscrewing it completely, simply remove it. Remove the tool for maintenance and discard the old optical point of the sensor.
Note: check the o-ring. If it is damaged, remove it with tweezers and replace with a new one from the maintenance kit.
Optical point replacement
Important: During the replacement process, avoid scratching or damaging the sensor (black surface on the sensor head).
- Slide the maintenance tool (straight edges on top) as far as possible over the new optical point. Continue to push and twist the tool until the straight edges of the tool fit into the straight grooves on the sensor
- Make sure the sensor collar is as far down as it will go, so that the top of the collar is aligned with the base of the sensor head.
- Take the combined maintenance tool and sensor spot and place it in the end of the sensor.
- Turn the tool clockwise to screw in the optical point. Do not over tighten. Once securely in place, remove the service tool.
