The ULTRATURB sc in-line sensors are innovative precision turbidity measurement instruments designed with the latest technology for wastewater and potable water systems.

The very robust seawater version has been specially developed for use in seawater with a high salinity of up to 65 g/l (e.g. to control the wash water of exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS) and seawater desalination, for fish farms or saltwater aquariums).

Turbidity in the range FNU (NTU) 0.0001 - 1000 is measured and displayed alphanumerically via controller. This high resolution contributes to the accurate determination of turbidity even in ultra-clear liquids. The devices are ready for operation after connecting to the mains and supplying a water sample. The measuring range and all output data are configurable via the menu on the controller. Processing of measurement results is also carried out by means of universal controllers SC 200 (2-channel), SC 1000 (multi-channel) or new SC 4500. All optical and electronic components are installed in durable waterproof housings.

A long-life pulsed infrared (LED) light source minimizes the cost of periodic lamp replacement. ULTRATURB sc turbidity sensors are designed in accordance with ISO 7027-1:2016 (Water quality - Determination of turbidity) and are calibrated before leaving the factory. All key data are set to practical standard values.

The ULTRATURB sc measuring chambers are equipped with a self-cleaning function that reliably prevents contamination of optical systems as deposits build up. Cleaning is carried out at intervals set in accordance with regulatory requirements. Cleaning intervals are adjusted according to the expected level of contamination during commissioning. The user can change the interval at any time.

Principle of turbidity measurement with the ULTRATURB sc sensor

The scattered light nephelometric method is a method for determining the very low to medium turbidity of liquids. Using this method, the light scattered sideways by the particles is measured at an angle of 90°. The low detection limit for this method makes it possible to reliably differentiate particles even in distilled water. This method is defined in ISO 7027-1:2016. The ULTRATURB sc sensors are designed in accordance with the requirements of this standard.
