Summary of method: Silver ions in basic solution react with cadion 2B to form a green to brown to red-purple complex. The sodium thiosulfate acts as a decolorizing agent for the blank. The Silver 1 and Silver 2 reagents contain the buffer, indicator and masking agents. Organic extractions are not necessary and this method does not have as many interferences as the traditional dithizone method. The measurement wavelength is 560 nm.
