The new Hach Phosphax sc LR digital analyzer in weatherproof housing is ideal for highly accurate determination of orthophosphate concentration directly in the vessel. The instrument offers a wide measurement range for a variety of wastewater applications with detection limits of only 0.015 mg/L PO4-P and fast response time, including sample preparation. The phosphate analyzer also features minimal reagent consumption and ease of use.

An SC1000 controller or an SC200 controller in combination with an LQV155 power supply is used to power and transmit data to the analyzer.

High levels of nutrients in the water can cause eutrophication (algae contamination of water bodies), leaving less oxygen for plants and animals underwater. Phosphax sc LR, based on the patented SC platform and utilizing the new yellow method, is the latest offering in the Hach Phosphax sc range to help address this environmental challenge and meet government and regulatory requirements. The new built-in photometer and split reagent dosing system provide higher accuracy and stability at low measuring ranges (0.015 - 2 mg/L PO4-P), which helps you make decisions about managing your wastewater treatment process and comply with strict regulations regarding total phosphorus discharge.

The analyzer is available in two versions (for outdoor and indoor use) and is primarily suitable for use in aeration basins for measuring orthophosphates at low ranges. The instrument can also be used as a dosing control system to ensure compliance with the maximum allowable concentration for total phosphorus when discharging wastewater into the receiving water.

  • Achieve compliance and reduce operating costs: The Phosphax sc LR operates according to the “yellow” method with split reagent dispensing and a new photometer with twice the path length of the Phosphax sc. These features result in highly accurate measurements at a low range, which helps you maintain sufficient water treatment to meet government requirements while reducing plant operating costs.

How an Industrial Phosphate Analyzer Works

The measuring principle is based on the formation of a yellow-colored phosphate-vanadium-molybdenum complex. Phosphax sc LR measures the concentration of orthophosphate in a sample with a dual beam photometer. A glass cuvette in the photometric unit ensures consistent measurements and consistent reproducibility.

The reagents and standards required for chemical analysis are installed inside the analyzer case. The analyzer uses pumps, valves, and syringes to move the sample and reagents into the measuring cell. At the end of the measurement cycle, the analyzer dumps the sample through the drain line. The analyzer can automatically perform cleaning and calibration cycles to improve measurement efficiency. The sample must be prepared and filtered prior to analysis.
