The color disc uses a visual comparison method (color matching) to determine the concentration of benzotriazole. Add reagents to the sample, rotate the disc until the sample matches the reference color - the concentration is displayed in the window.
Model TZ -1 used to determine the level of benzotriazole in the range 0 - 15 mg/L and is available to order in two configurations:
- with UV lamp and power supply (SKU 2167502)
- without UV lamp and power supply included (SKU 2167570)

Description
Proper maintenance and operation of modern boilers and cooling towers requires a careful balance between water quality parameters and treatment chemicals. These Hach test kits, with or without UV lamp and power supply uses the color disc method to determine the presence of corrosion inhibitor. The kit contains all the necessary reagents and equipment, in a rugged carrying case for field analysis.
Step-by-step instructions for determining of the benzotriazole with the test - kit Hach TZ -1:
- pour the sample into the test tube, up to the first mark of 5 ml
- put the tube on the left into the color comparator box
- pour the sample into the vial, up to the 25 ml mark
- add the powder reagent for benzotriazole to the vial and mix
- put the bottle in the seat in the case
- when using the test kit with a UV lamp, wear UV protective goggles
- put the lamp in the bottle and turn it on
- wait 5 minutes for the sample to dissolve and show a yellow color, turn off the lamp
- pour the dissolved sample into the second tube, up to the first 5 ml mark
- put the test tube into the color comparator box
- keep the color comparator box exposed to light (use a natural or artificial light source). Rotate the color disc until the colors match.
- compare the result on a scale in mg/L
