Description
Chloride, found in almost all natural waters, affects the taste of water at concentrations above 250 mg/l. High levels inhibit plant growth, and many manufacturing processes must limit chloride concentrations. This test kit is a multi-range kit (500 - 10,000 mg/L Cl- and 5,000 - 100,000 mg/L Cl-) supplied with deionized water to dilute the sample. The kit is enough to run 100 tests.
Recommendations for working with the CD-51
- Hold the pipette vertically over the sample. Do not let it touch the vial during titration.
- Rinse tubes and vials with sample prior to testing. After the test, rinse the tubes and bottles with deionized water.
- To record the test result as mg/L sodium chloride (NaCl), multiply the chloride result by 1.65.
Step-by-step determination of chloride in the range of 0 - 10,000 mg / l Cl-
- Fill the measuring tube with the sample.
- Transfer the sample to a mixing container.
- Add one pillow with Indicator (104399).
- Turn the mixing bottle left and right to mix.
- Add titrant (2349432) with silver nitrate drop by drop. Cap the bottle and shake vigorously after each drop. Count the drops until the color changes from yellow to reddish brown.
- If the precipitate is orange and the solution is yellow, repeat all steps with a new sample and shake the sample again.
- Multiply the total number of drops by 500 to get the result in mg/L.
Step-by-step determination of chloride in the range 0 - 100,000 mg / l Cl-
- Rinse the plastic pipette two or three times with sample water.
- Fill the pipette to the mark with the sample.
- Add the sample to the mixing bottle.
- Add deionized water to the mixing bottle until it is almost half full.
- Follow steps 3 - 6 from the previous instructions.
- Multiply the total number of drops by 5000 to get the result in mg/L.
