Hach Titration Kit: Ca / Mg Water Hardness (ISE)

Set for determination of calcium and magnesium hardness in waste water. Suitable for the Titralab AT1000 series of automatic titrators, models AT1112, AT1122 and AT1222.

Method for determination of hardness (Ca and Mg) based on ISO 6059: 1984

Water hardness is the sum of the calcium and magnesium ions present in the water. The above standard lays down a titration with EDTA at pH 10.00 using NH4Cl / NH4OH buffer and colorimetric determination of the equivalent point.

The method also uses EDTA titration with potentiometric equivalent point determination using an ion-selective electrode for calcium determination. Instead of NH4Cl / NH4OH buffer, a mixture of TRIS and acetylacetone is used. This buffer solution separates calcium and magnesium using the ISE calcium electrode.
