Description
An easy-to-use covering power meter for measuring of the opacity or gray scale reflectivity. Suitable for assessing the hiding power of coatings or simple color grading tasks for metallized films, anodized aluminum or ceramics.
The Opac reflectometer measures the diffusely reflected light from the test surface. Controlled lighting conditions and lighting angle allow surfaces to be characterized by their lightness or darkness. A completely black surface will display (zero), while ideal white will have a value of 100, recognized by the color scale as a "Y" value.
This model can be used to compare the contrast ratios of paints. The procedure involves applying a test piece to a black and white card or polyester sheets, which are then placed on black and white glass plates.
Readings are taken on the cover over the black part, after which readings are taken on the white part.
