Description
The analyzer measures the ammonium ions present in treated aqueous solutions (waste water, process water, drinking water and surface water). The measured value is displayed on the controller in mg/L NH4-N. The Amtax sc connects to an SC200 controller (power supply required) or SC1000 for versatile control and configuration options including 4-20 mA output, Modbus RS485, Profibus or HART. Conversion formula: NH4-N : NH4 + = 1: 1.288

The analyzer can be used at any point in the wastewater treatment process as well as for the analysis of drinking water. Removal of nutrients is an important and sensitive process in wastewater treatment. Fast response is critical for optimal performance. The fast response time of just 5 minutes and the choice of measurement interval make the Amtax sc one of the fastest responding ammonium analyzers on the market.
The Amtax sc analyzer is designed to be installed directly at the measurement site, including outdoors. The housing, which is lockable, is weatherproof, so the analyzer can be installed directly at the source to be analyzed, even in the most aggressive climatic conditions. The Amtax sc is easy to wall mount with rail and rack mount options. Thanks to SC technology, the analyzer is ready to work with controllers that are combined into one network.
The analyzer is automatically calibrated and cleaned, and is equipped with comprehensive self-diagnostic programs. With a minimum of 3 months reagent supply (with 5 minute measurement intervals), the Amtax sc analyzer provides the most economical reagent consumption. Reagents and wear parts are always available upon request.
The instrument works with a maintenance-free filtration system (eg Filtrax) that removes particles larger than 0.15 microns. The filtrate is sent to the analyzer, while air bubbles constantly clean the filter membrane. The analyzer is also available in a two-channel version for measuring two different sampling points.
How the Hach Amtax sc analyzer works
The Amtax sc measures the ammonium concentration using a gas selective electrode. The ammonium in the sample is first converted to gaseous ammonia. The gas-selective membrane passes it inside the electrode where the concentration is determined. This method provides a wide measurement range and is less sensitive to the influence of masking agents compared to using an ion-selective electrode.
