Comparator / color disc for cyanide, 0 - 0.3 mg/L Cn

Description

The main sources of cyanide, an extremely toxic substance are baths for metal cleaning and electroplating, gas scrubbers, gas plants, coke ovens and various chemical processes. It can be easily removed from wastewater using alkaline or neutral chlorination procedures.

Step-by-step instructions for determining the level of cyanide test - with the Hach CYN-3 kit:

1. Fill the tube with sample to a value of 5 ml;
2. Place the tube - on the left in the color comparator box;
3. Fill the bottle with the sample;
4. Add HexaVer CDTA Powder Reagent and mix the sample;
5. Add CyaniVer 3 Cyanide Powder Reagent and mix the sample;
6. Wait 1 minute;
7. Add CyaniVer 4 Cyanide Powder Reagent and mix the sample and go to the next step without delay;
8. Add CyaniVer 5 Cyanide Powder Reagent and mix the sample;
9. Wait 20 minutes, if cyanide is present in the sample, a blue color will appear. Compare the result after 26 minutes;
10. Fill the second sample tube to 5ml;
11. Place the tube - on the left in the color comparator box;
12. Keep the color comparator box exposed to light (use sunlight or a desk lamp). Rotate the color disc until the colors match.
13. Compare results on a scale in mg/L.

Filtration procedure for turbid samples:

If the sample is cloudy, filter it through filter paper. Use the filtered sample in the test procedure. Record the test result as soluble cyanide.

1. Place filter paper in a watering can and insert into the neck of the bottle;
2. Pour the sample into a full bottle;
3. Place a watering can in a second bottle and pour at least 5 ml of sample.
