Comparator / color disc for copper, 0 - 4 mg/L Cu, CU-5 and CU-6

Description

Copper is in the natural waters and wastewater as soluble salt or suspended solids. Small amounts are needed for plants and animals, and concentrations in excess of 0.1 mg/L are useful for controlling algae and plankton growth. Amounts from 0.02 to 0.1 mg/L are toxic to some fish so its use in the treatment of fish diseases requires careful monitoring.

Test kit Hach CU-5 and CU-6 included:

• color disc (SKU: 9263300)
• color comparator box
• two tubes (SKU: 173006)
• powder pillows
• instructions and carrying case

Step-by-step instructions for determining the copper with the test - kits Hach CU-5 and CU-6:

1. Fill the tube with sample to a value of 5 ml;
2. Place the test tube - on the left in the color comparator box;
3. Add powder pillows to the second tube;
4. Close the tube and mix the sample;
5. Wait 2 minutes, if there is free copper in the sample, a purple color will appear;
6. Place the second tube in the color comparator box;
7. Keep the color comparator box out in the light (use sunlight or a desk lamp). Rotate the color disc until the colors match.
8. Compare obtained results in mg/L.

Step-by-step instructions to determine the total amount of dissolved copper:

1. Add powder pillows with hydrosulfite reagent powder to the tube;
2. Close the tube and mix the sample;
3. Wait 2 minutes;
4. Place the second tube in the color comparator box;
5. Keep the color comparator box exposed to light (use sunlight or a desk lamp). Rotate the color disc until the colors match.
6. Compare obtained results in mg/L.
