Using a silver nitrate titrant, the 8-P kit provides fast and accurate determination of chlorides in the low range: 5 - 100 mg/l Cl- and 20 - 400 mg/l Cl-.

The kit contains: two reagents (104399 and 2349832), a bottle for mixing samples (10, 15, 20 and 23 ml marks), a measuring tube (5.83 ml), instructions and a carrying / storage case.

Description

Description

  • Hold the pipette vertically over the sample. Do not touch the vial with the pipette during titration.
  • Rinse tubes and vials with sample prior to testing. After the test, rinse the containers with deionized water.
  • When the silver nitrate titration solution is not in use, store it in a closed case as the titrant solution decomposes slowly under light.
  • To check the accuracy of the test, use a standard solution as a sample (see Accessories).
  • To record the test result as mg/L sodium chloride (NaCl), multiply the result by 1.65.

Instructions for the determination of chloride in the range of 0 - 400 mg/l Cl-

  1. Fill the measuring tube with the sample.
  2. Transfer the sample to a mixing bottle.
  3. Add one dose of Chloride 2 reagent.
  4. Shake to mix.
  5. Add the silver nitrate titration solution dropwise. Stir after each drop. Count the drops until the color changes to reddish brown.
  6. Multiply the total number of drops by 20 to get the result in mg/L.

Instructions for the determination of chloride in the range of 0 - 100 mg/l Cl-

  1. Fill the bottle with sample up to the 23 ml mark.
  2. Add one dose of Chloride 2 reagent.
  3. Rotate the bottle left and right to mix.
  4. Add the silver nitrate titration solution dropwise. Stir after each drop. Count the drops until the color changes to reddish brown.
  5. Multiply the total number of drops by 5 to get the result in mg/L.
