The SCC-Cassette is a specialized device in which the fluorescent dye propidium iodide (PI) is immobilized in the internal flow channels of a disposable cassette. When approximately 60 μL of the sample mixture is loaded into the cassette, the PI dissolves and mixes with the cell sample, staining the nuclei of the somatic cells.
SCC-Cassettes are used with Reagent C.
SCC-Cassette is used in the SCC-100 analyzer.

Description
Propidium iodide is immobilized within the SCC-Cassette ™ disposable cassette. When the cassette is loaded with cell lysate, the PI dissolves and the cellular DNA stains.
Once placed in the NucleoCounter®, the stained mixture is automatically transferred to the measurement chamber. Green light stimulates PI-DNA intercalation, and the emitted red light is recorded by a CCD camera for correlation with cell counts.
After analysis, the sample and PI remain inside the SCC-Cassette ™, which can be safely discarded, ensuring safe disposal of samples.
The thickness of the measuring chamber of each SCC-Cassette ™ is measured during production, precisely determining the volume to be analyzed. This, together with rugged optical components, eliminates the need for instrument calibration.
Since the SCC-Cassette contains a flow system as well as a measurement chamber, the NucleoCounter SCC-100 analyzer does not require maintenance or cleaning.
