It is important to calibrate your pH electrode regularly to get accurate results. Failure to do so may result in inaccurate pH measurements. Single point calibration can be used when you want to measure a constant pH value with small deviations. This method involves using one buffer solution as a calibration standard. However, the most common calibration is the two-point calibration, this method is best suited when you have a number of pH samples. Buffer solutions must match the expected pH of the sample.
