Description

The Hach FF-2 Kit (part number 243001) for testing the water quality of pond fish farms includes everything you need to measure 10 basic parameters. Controlling these parameters helps create a healthy environment for aquatic life.

Some measurement methods use reagents and color discs - a comparator to visually determine the concentration of a substance in a water sample. Other methods use reagents and a titration procedure to measure the concentration of a parameter. The step-by-step execution of each assay is described in the instructions supplied with the kit.

Ammonia in water is in the form of ammonium ion (NH4 +) and non-ionized ammonia (NH3). NH3 is toxic to fish. The percentage of NH3 increases with increasing pH and temperature. The FF-2 test kit measures NH4 + and NH3 as ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N). To calculate mg/L NH3 in a sample, refer to the table and equation in the analysis procedure that comes with the kit.
