TAN application pack from Hach - potentiometric titration in petrochemical oils. Suitable for the Titralab AT1000 series of automatic titrators, models AT1102, AT1112, AT1122 and AT1222.
Hach Titrator Kits contain all elements except reagents so that each user can set up and run their assay quickly and easily. Each kit is specially designed for unique parameters to provide accurate and reproducible measurements.
Method: Total Acid Number (TAN) (ASTM D664)
The operating procedure determines the sum of all acidic compounds present in petrochemical samples by acid-base titration using KOH as the titrant. TAN is expressed in mg KOH per gram of sample.
Since the samples are not aqueous, they are diluted with a mixture of chloroform and isopropyl alcohol. The KOH solvent is isopropyl alcohol.
