The Sonatec ultrasonic concentration sensor is a high-precision instrument for the continuous determination of the speed of sound in liquids. The use of a Sonatec probe in conjunction with a Rhotec density probe enables accurate measurements for three-component systems. The instrument is designed for applications requiring maximum sensitivity and highest accuracy. It is easy to operate and requires no maintenance.
Similar to density measurement technology, the speed of sound is a material and concentration dependent quality that can be used to determine the concentration of a liquid. The transit time of the sound signal produced by the piezo ceramic is measured between the teeth of a forked measuring head, which is installed directly in the process. As the transit time of the signal changes, the speed of sound and the changes in concentration that result are measured. The measurement of the temperature dependence on the speed of sound is compensated by the electronic measurement of the parallel temperature elements PT1000. Based on these measurement signals, a concentration calculation is obtained, the value of which is shown on the screen as Mass, Volume%, ° Brix,% Extract or in other calculated quantities of the speed of sound of the measured medium. Due to its simple mechanical design with no moving parts, the sensor is very reliable and requires little or no maintenance. The use of this technology, together with specific measurement software, is the recognized leader in the measurement of liquids with dissolved and undissolved components, both organic and inorganic.
