pH Buffers
PH buffers are aqueous solutions that maintain a constant pH when combined with small amounts of acids or bases, or when diluted. Buffer solutions usually consist of a combination of a conjugated base and a weak acid that absorbs excess hydrogen atoms to maintain a stable pH. Thus, buffer solutions are excellent for calibrating pH meters and determining the pH of a solution with low uncertainty. The Hach Lange range includes both colorless and color-coded solutions, in various types of packaging from 15 ml to 20 liters. PH buffers are also available in convenient single-use Singlet sachets and in sachets with powder for dilution. All buffer solutions are suitable for optimal calibration of pH electrodes with an accuracy of ± 0.02 pH at 25 °C.
